Have you ever needed to check something on Wikipedia when no Internet connection was available? That could be very annoying... Thanks to Evopedia, that won't happen again as this application not only allows you to access the entire Wikipedia database on your Maemo device, it lets you do so without any connection to the Internet! You might wonder how this works: It's simple, you only need to download the main Evopedia software and a Wikipedia dump that is actually a kind of image containing all the articles of the online encyclopedia. There are several dumps, one for each language but they can be downloaded and accessed separately on your device, which lets you have a multilingual encyclopedia on your tablet!

After offering free navigation for almost all their GPS-enabled phones, Nokia is now releasing different updates for several Symbian phones. Not only the Finnish manufacturer is updating firmwares, they are also offering new versions for their applications, especially their Ovi Store. However, most of these updates are only minor ones and simply bring some performance improvements and a somehow better user experience, even though not much changes. Nonetheless, for once, almost all of them are available for all original product codes, except operator versions.

After offering free navigation for several other Symbian devices, the Finnish manufacturer decided its "flagship" device should feature this service as well. Therefore, they finally released a dedicated update for the application directly on N97s to let every owner take the benefit of free GPS guidance. However, many people were expecting this new version to come directly with a new firmware for the N97, even though some people say it will still be released tomorrow.

Ever since the launch of the Ovi Store, we have been anxiously waiting for the first local Lebanese application to make its appearance. Finally, the time has come, and you can now download Foo-Me! from the Ovi Store for free. Foo-Me! is a widget-based java application that aims to be a full portal to everything Lebanese on your phone. It currently features 12 different services, 3 of which are said to be "Coming Soon", namely the News, Finance and Phone Directory but the other 9 work perfectly well.

We were recently telling you how great Ovi Maps was in a GPS applications comparison article, but we didn't know that Nokia would make a great announcement today and make the application entirely free! Although Maps were completely free, turn-by-turn navigation on Ovi Maps wasn't as you needed to pay a little fee in order to use your phone as a real navigation device. Not only Nokia decided that turn-by-turn navigation would become free, they also made all their premium content available for everyone without any fee, including traffic information and city guides. Therefore, willing to compete with Google's new Android GPS application, Nokia now offers Walk and Drive navigation as well as Traffic information, Safety Camera warnings and free Lonely Planet and Michelin guides and becomes with no doubt the best GPS application for Symbian devices.
