We were recently being the first to let you know about a purple Nokia E72 we spotted in Nokia Levant's offices in Downtown Beirut, Lebanon. Even though Nokia confirmed this device wasn't a special edition and should hit the shelves shortly, many people expressed doubts about it and were not sure if the device was really going to be available. Nokia now confirmed this E72 is going to be available and gave its special color a name.

Nokia made it clear over the last 2 years that their major strategy is to offer devices with specific services designed for their phones so that users could go beyond traditional usage. Hence, Nokia created their Ovi services and launched a music store so that people could download their favorite songs directly from their phone, a little bit like iTunes on the iPhone. However, even if it's very convenient to be able to get your tracks directly on your cell, the Nokia Music Store is generally not a major decision-making point as songs have to be bought separately, regardless of the phone you have.
Nevertheless, Nokia decided to provide their customers with an added value compared to other phone manufacturers and hence offers a specific unlimited music download service that comes with select devices, such as the Nokia X6 in Lebanon (but also the 5800 in the UK a few months ago), that allows you to legally download all the songs you like during a year and keep them even after the end of your Comes with Music period. This service started to spread little by little all over the world and has now become available in Lebanon and the Middle East. It should therefore attract new customers but also change the way people use their phone everyday, as not everybody listens to music on their cell phones and even fewer ones download music using their phone.

Nokia's latest business behemoth, the Nokia E72 has been announced and available worldwide for a few months. Up until now though, you could grab the E72 in business optimized colors: black, silver and topaz brown. Fortunately, this situation is about to change with the introduction of a more trendy color which will sure capture the hearts of many, especially the female crowd: purple.

Unlike other manufacturers like Samsung or LG, Nokia generally doesn't target teenagers a lot. However, when they do it, it's obviously done properly. Indeed, the Nokia 6760 Surge looks very fresh and is well designed, like most of the other devices of its category. What Nokia adds compared to other makes is that their product is not a proprietary device that will be forgotten 2 months after being released thanks to all the technology it has, such as its GPS chip, its advanced music player, Symbian Operating System or even its full QWERTY keyboard. Given this information, it is very obvious the Nokia Surge is one of the best choices for a young audience as it really fulfills their needs as they can listen to their favorite tracks, take photos, share them, chat easily, receive their emails on their phone and download many applications, without the need of any additional device or subscription.

So much has been said on NokiaLB and elsewhere about the Nokia N900, Maemo and the introduction of open sourced Linux mobile operating systems into Nokia after the domination of Symbian, especially when it comes to smartphones.
However new to the mobile world was the announcement at the Mobile World Congress, last month, of MeeGo. MeeGo is the proud fruit of the coming together of Nokia and a significant player in the tech world, none other than Intel. It will basically take the best out of Maemo's user interface and top it on Intel's Moblin technical functionalities.
