Probably the most expected thing from N900 owners, the Ovi Store client has finally been released for the famous device. You are now able to download applications but also games, utilities and even videos directly from your Internet tablet. However, it is still a beta version that may not be very stable and you may therefore experience some issues with it.

Nokia wanted to wish their customers a happy New Year by offering them firmware updates, especially knowing some of them bring additional features that became popularly requested. Therefore, the Finnish manufacturer has updated three Symbian phones, the 5800 XpressMusic, the E72 and the N86, but also their most famous Maemo product, the N900. Also, the Nokia Software Updater application has been updated to fully support the latest version of Microsoft Windows, avoiding you to change application settings to download the latest firmware to your device.

Nokia has lately preinstalled an excellent translating application that also serves as a dictionary on their recent Symbian phones. However, it seems that Maemo products don't (yet) feature this excellent application allowing you to have a multilingual dictionary and translator in your pocket. For that reason, a new application, called gTranslate, allows you to use Google's famous translation service to translate whatever you want directly from you Nokia N900.

Although Symbian phones have an advanced web browser, they are not able to display Wikipedia pages as well as Maemo devices would. Hence, many people have been using the specific mobile version of the application in order to browse Wikipedia without worrying about the way it is displayed. However, a mobile version doesn't always mean it's better than the regular site, as this one was dividing articles into several pages and displaying images in a way that wasn't convenient at all. For that reason, many users asked for a dedicated Wikipedia widget for Symbian devices and, eventually, there's an official Widget available, even though it's still an alpha version.

Nokia Betalabs released Nokia Image Exchange as a photo sharing software for Symbian devices. It allows you to view your photos as in a regular gallery but with social features, such as the ability to comment, favorite and view other's photos. However, the application only supported Symbian S60 v3 phones, which made it impossible for 5800, N97 and other touchscreen phones owners to take the benefits of this application.
