Ever since the launch of the Ovi Store, we have been anxiously waiting for the first local Lebanese application to make its appearance. Finally, the time has come, and you can now download Foo-Me! from the Ovi Store for free.

Foo-Me! is a widget-based java application that aims to be a full portal to everything Lebanese on your phone. It currently features 12 different services, 3 of which are said to be "Coming Soon", namely the News, Finance and Phone Directory. The other 9 work perfectly well, and are:

1. MTC

By simply logging in with your MTC username and password, you have access to a few MTC services, like Web2SMS and Credit Transfer, as well as an easy way to subscribe to Missed Call to SMS and WAP. Web2SMS is the highlight of this section, as it allows you to send free SMS from your phone (62 per month), without being tied to the computer. It also lets you save your favorite Contacts, and notifies you of the remaining free SMS count each time you successfully send an SMS.

2. Alfa

The Alfa service works the same way as the MTC one, giving you access to your free Web2SMS account and other services.

3. Zodiac

As the name hints, the Zodiac section of Foo-Me! is an astrological portal that lets you read your daily horoscope.

4. Weather

This widget gives you the local weather for 5 different Lebanese cities scattered across the country: Beirut, Zahle, Sidon, Tripoli, Al Arz. The weather prediction is given in terms of the highest and lowest temperature for today and the next 5 days.

5. Movies

One of the best aspects of Foo-Me!, the Movies section is quite a complete guide into the local Lebanese theaters and movie scene. You can either browse by movie title or by theaters. Movie details show the poster, genre, actors, director, duration, rating, plot, and in which theaters it's playing as well as the show times in each. Theatre details show its location, phone number, and all the different movies playing in it with their show times. The best part is that both of these aspects are linked, so when you click on a movie while browsing through theaters, you're taken to its page, and vice-versa.

6. Events

Another superb aspect of Foo-Me! is the Events section which is a daily calendar of all the interesting art events happening in Lebanon. Categories include Theater & Cinema, Outdoor, Music, Culture, Art & Expos, and Miscellaneous. Each event's details page shows its location, type, price, time, as well as a phone number and whether or not you should make a reservation.

7. Sudoku

The name says it all. You can choose between 4 difficulty levels and play as much as you want.

8. Settings

Two different settings are here for you to choose: Language (English, Arabic, French) and Connection (Always connected, Always Offline, Ask every time).

9. Chat

The Chat widget allows you to chat to your Foo-Me! friends using your phone numbers as identifiers. It also lets you send them messages while they're offline, which they'll receive the next time they connect.

We have tested Foo-Me! and found it working well both on the Nokia E72 with its landscape screen and QWERTY input as well as the Nokia X6 with its high-resolution touchscreen with finger input.

With this many options, Foo-Me! is definitely a must-have in case you live in Lebanon. The Operator services with Web2SMS, Movies and Events sections are clear winners in our opinion and finally give an easy access to functions that weren't mobile-friendly earlier. Its free price tag is also unbeatable, despite a couple of advertisements in the headers. Head down to the Ovi Store to get it for your phone.
