After offering free navigation for several other Symbian devices, the Finnish manufacturer decided its "flagship" device should feature this service as well. Therefore, they finally released a dedicated update for the application directly on N97s to let every owner take the benefit of free GPS guidance. However, many people were expecting this new version to come directly with a new firmware for the N97, even though some people say it will still be released tomorrow.

Some people argued this update was delayed because the N97's internal memory is pretty small and Nokia therefore needed to adapt the application to its weak resources. In all cases, Nokia has tested this new version on the device and claims it works well without any specific issues. N97 users can thus take full advantage of free and unlimited walk and drive navigation with premium features such as safety camera alerts and updated traffic information.

To install this new version on your device, simply go to Applications > SW Update and download it directly from there. You can alternatively download Ovi Maps from Nokia's website and then transfer it to your mobile phone.
